Maurice R. Curran Maurice R. Curran, son of a Solicitor, the late Dermott Curran was educated at Blackrock College and U.C.D. obtaining B.C.L. and LL.B. degrees with First Class Honours. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1961, having been awarded the Overend & Findlater Scholarships. He joined the firm of Walker Son & Mason, now Mason Hayes & Curran, in which he is currently Managing Partner. He has been a member of the Society of Young Solicitors from its foundation and Chairman for two years in 1972 and 1973. Elected to the Council in 1974 he has served on the following Committees:— Registrar's, Parliamentary, Education (Chairman 1976/78), Finance (Chairman 1978/82) and Compensation Fund (Chairman 1982 to date). His recent particular areas of activity in the Society have related to the introduction of the new Solicitors Accounts Regulations and the current negotiations with the Department of Justice on proposed amendments to the Solicitors Acts.

Thomas D. Shaw Thomas D. Shaw was educated at U.C.D., where he completed his B.C.L. degree in 1958. He was admitted a Solicitor in Michaelmas, 1959, and has practised for the entire of his professional career with J. A. Shaw & Co., Solicitors, Mullingar, where he is now the Senior Partner. He became a member of the Council of the Law Society in September 1974 and served as Chairman of the Registrar's and Compensation Fund Committee from 1977 to 1980. He has also been Chairman of the Finance Committee for the last three years.
