R yan , Solicitor, died at St. Laurence’s Hospital, Dublin on the 7th October, 1954. Mr. Ryan served his apprenticeship with Mr. Edward J. Ryan, Solicitor, Thurles, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1932 and practised at Thurles. M r . R oger G r een e , Solicitor, died at his residence, Newtown Hill, Leixlip on the 2nd November, 1954. Mr. Greene served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Thomas J. Greene, Solicitor, 1 1 Wellington Quay, Dublin, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1933 and practised at 1 1 Wellington Quay, Dublin as senior partner in the firm o f Messrs. Roger Greene & Son. He was a member o f the Council o f this Society from 1943-1952, Vice-President for the year 1945-46 and President o f the Society for the year 1950-51. M r . P eter D. P. G a lla gh er , Solicitor, died at St. Laurence’s Hospital, Dublin, on the 5th November, 1954. Mr. Gallagher served his apprenticeship with Mr. Philip A. E . Gallagher, Solicitor, Tubbercurry, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1953 and practised at Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. M r . D an iel P. O ’C onnor , Solicitor, died at his residence, “ South Winds,” Naas, Co. Kildare, on the 7th November, 1954. Mr. O’Connor served his apprenticeship with Mr. Thomas Early, Solicitor, 6 Cavendish Row, Dublin, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1920 and practised at Naas as senior partner in the firm of Messrs. O’Connor & Coonan.
OBITUARY. M r . W illiam O. K an e , Solicitor, died on the 18th May, 1954. Mr. Kane served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Daniel McLaughlin, Solicitor, Coleraine, and was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1895. M r . D avid G ordon D ixon , Solicitor, died on the 24th June, 1954. Mr. Dixon served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. William Shean, Solicitor, 16 High Street, Belfast, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1899 and practised at 16 High Street, Belfast, as senior partner in the firm o f Messrs. Shean & Dixon. M r . M icha el A . N estor , Solicitor, died on the 27th June, 1954. Mr. Nestor served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Frederick B. McDonogh, Solicitor, Tuam, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1945 and practised at Dunmore. M r . S amuel R e id , Solicitor, died on the 30th July, 1954. Mr. Reid served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. J. R. Moorhead, Solicitor, Belfast, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 19 12 and practised at 22 Callendar Street, Belfast. M r . J ohn W e l ls , Solicitor, died at his residence, Capragh House, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, on the 3rd October, 1954. Mr. Wells served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Andrew A. THE SOLICITORS’ BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION The Association, which operates throughout the whole of Ireland, cares for Solicitors, their wives, widows and families, who have fallen on hard times. Last year over £2,000 was distributed in relief. Additional subscriptions, donations and bequests are urgently needed to continue and extend the Association’s work.
