Such procedures would allay the fears of innocent persons on their first experience of questioning by Gardai and would lessen the opportunities given to more ex- perienced members of the criminal fraternity to set up a situation in which successful challenges to the statement can be brought at the subsequent trial. It is to be hoped that both re- commendations will be implement- ed quickly.
