SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT Thomas D. Shaw, Senior Vice President 1986/87 Thomas D. Shaw, Senior Partner, in J. A. Shaw & Co., Solicitors, Mullingar, has been elected Senior Vice President of the Society. He was educated at St. Gerard's School, Bray, Clongowes Wood College, and at University College Dublin where he obtained a BCL degree. He qualified as a solicitor in 1959 and is married with six children. This information was given to members of the Law Society at the AGM when the President, Mr. Laurence Cullen, invited Mr. John O'Connor, Chairman of the Solicitors' Benevolent Society to address the meeting. Mr. O'Connor said that the Solicitors' Benevolent Society, in the current difficult climate, finds itself helping some very young families in addition to elderly people whose resources had not kept up with inflation. He appealed to all members of the Law Society to regard the Solicitors' Benevolent Society as well worthy of support. JUNIOR VICE PRESIDENT Raymond T. Monahan, Junior Vice President 1986/87 Raymond T. Monahan, Senior Partner in Horan Monahan & Co., Solicitors, Sligo, has been elected as Junior Vice President. He was educated in Blackrock College and University College Dublin where he obtained a BCL and LLB degrees. He qualified as a solicitor in 1971. His wife, Eileen, is also a solicitor and they have five children.
