Domicile and Recognition of Foreign Divorces A c t , 1 9 8 6 — (contd. from p.270) If neither spouse is domiciled in Ireland, the divorce will be recognised, although not granted in the country where either of the spouses are domiciled, if it is recognised in the country (or both countries) where the spouses are domiciled. This only applies to divorces granted after the 2nd day of October, 1986 and affects no other grounds for refusing divorce in this country. The tax consequences are similar to the consequences of the change in the domicile of dependency, but the Act cannot affect any divorce granted prior to the 2nd day of October 1986. •

INCORPORATED LAW SOCIETY OF IRELAND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES DIVISION ASSISTANT SOLICITOR

The Society intends to recruit an Assistant Solicitor to join its Professional Services Division. This division is primarily concerned with maintaining high ethical standards within the profession and im- proving communications between members of the public and the profession. The post will appeal to solicitors interested in broadening their career prospects and to those seeking a challenging and satisfying assignment offering scope for personal initiative. A minimum of three years post qualification experience is required and a general knowledge of all the main areas of law is essential. The solicitor will be dealing with members of the public and the profession on a daily basis and, therefore, must be a good communicator. Some administrative experience would be an advantage as the solicitor may be required to assist in the examination and re-organisation of established practices.
