Conference: Madrid 19-22 May, 1985 The General Practice Section of the International Bar Association will hold its third conference in Madrid between the 19th and 22nd May 1985 with the principal topic "Maintaining Legal Standards and Services in a World of Change". The key note address to the main theme will be given by W. Gordon Graham, Chairman and Chief Executive of Butterworth & Co. The speakers in the First Session on the subject "Professional Standards and Modern Development" will include:— The speakers in the Second Session on " Professional Controls & The Protection of the Public" will be:— Professor Philip Love from Scotland Anthony Smith from Australia. The speakers in the Third Session "The Future — What does the Public require of the Lawyer" will be:— Lalit Bhasin from India Simon Chalton from England. Various Divisions of the Section will hold meetings some of which will be devoted to those aspects of the main theme which apply to the Division's activities, while others will devote their meetings to the ordinary topics covered by the Divisions. There will be an active social programme.
