The annual match against the Chartered Surveyors was held in glorious conditions in Howth Golf Club by kind permission on Tuesday, 14th May, 1985. The match itself was an aggregate fourball played to the death and the overall result was a halved match. The results were as follows: (Solicitors names first) D. Alexander and Q. Crivon lost to R. Ward and P. Creed two down. T. O'Reilly and A. McNulty beat J. Gahan and P. O'Donoghue one up. B. Gartlan and L. Ennis lost to J. Shackleton and B. Hughes five down. D. Walsh and A. McGonagle lost to S. McDermot and W. Beere one down. J. Glackin and F. O'Riordan lost to S. Harrington and P. Sherry two down. K. Smith and C. Price beat D. Gill and B. Merry four up. J. McKnight and J. Lynch beat K. Dooley and D. O'Neill five up. The team was supported by G. Doyle, G. Walsh and B. Rigney who surely would have carried the day for the Solicitors had their services been required.
