HAGUE CONFERENCE OF PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW The Permanent Bureau of the Conference require a new Secretary. guilty. On application that the State should pay costs was adjourned until April, 1967. The judg ment of the Court which was delivered in Octo ber, 1967 referred to the transfer of jurisdiction under the Judicature Act, 1877 as well as the in herent jurisdiction under article 34 of the Consti tution and the stated jurisdiction conferred under the Courts (Supplemental provisions) Act, 1961. The matter was fully considered and Kenny J. held that the Central Criminal Court has power in its discretion to award costs to an accused who has been acquitted—Miss Brady's costs, limited to nine days were awarded and no costs were awar ded to the other five accused save two days argu ment to Miss Dillon. (2nd October 1967). DIARY OF EVENTS IN DECEMBER 4th—Federation of Professional Associations Meeting in Royal Hibernian Hotel, Dawson Street, Dublin, at 8.00 p.m. Lecture on "The Professional in a changing Society" by John Marsh. 8th—Irish Association of Jurists Meeting in the Library of the Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin, at 8.00 p.m. Lecture on 'Some Aspects of Constitutional Reform' by C. Gavan Duffy, M.A., LL.B., Librarian to the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland. The chair will be taken by Professor R. O'Hanlon, U.C.D. and the speakers to the paper will be Mr. T. A. Conolly, S.C. and Mr. Donal Barrington, Barrister-at-Law. 14th—Society of Labour Lawyers Meeting in Clarence Hotel, Dublin, at 8.00 p.m. Mr. Paul O'Higgins, Professor of Law at Cam bridge University will speak to the Society.
