Ross, Mary Judith Baily, B.C.L., LL.B., and Margaret Patricia Burnell, B.A. (Mod.), LL.B. The Guinness and Mahon Prize has been awarded to John Stephen Hannon, B.C.L. The O'Connor Memorial Prize for 1970 has been awarded to Mary Judith Baily, B.C.L., LL.B. REVIEWS OF LAW BOOKS T. M. Aldridge, The Rent Control and Leasehold Enfranchisement. Third edition; 141 pp. (London, Oyez Publications, 1970; £2). This work is likely to prove to be more of interest than of value to Irish practitioners because the principles which govern rent control in Britain are now substantially different to those which exist here though obviously the judicial decisions on the meaning of terms which exist in both the British and Irish legislations could be of consid erable assistance to Irish practitioners. The section of the book dealing with leasehold enfranchise ment reveals that in the area of price for the acquisition of fee simple the Irish provisions, which in the case of dwellinghouses government 113 and Ernest Francis Scott Williams. 48 candidates attended; 44 passed.
