Mr. T. Fitzpatrick, T.D. 26 Farnham Street, Cavan.

Dear Sir, I have been asked by Mr. Robert Molloy, Minister for Local Government, to refer to the reply given on 17th February, 1970 to your Parliamentary Question relating to the processing of malicious injury claims by Dublin Corporation and to state that enquiries have been made with the local authority in the matter. They have now indicated that since last October resulting from steps taken by the Law Agent in consultation with the Chief Quantity Surveyor the number of cases dealt with each fortnight has been doubled from 80 to 160 cases. This has necessitated the employ ment of additional staff and the working of over time. The matter is being kept under regular review and the Law Agent feels that it may be possible to raise the figure per fortnight to 200 cases. He is endeavouring to operate this increased figure from the beginning of the Trinity Sittings i.e. 26th May. Yours faithfully, J. LEN1HAN, Private Secretary to the Minister.
