The following was among the business trans acted : Legal Education The Society had written to the other bodies in Dublin concerned with Legal Education—the Kings Inns and the two Universities, suggesting a rationalisation of legal Education. A joint con ference, with representatives from each institu tion took place in the Clarence Hotel on Sunday, 26th May, 1968. CIRCUIT COURT RULES COMMITTEE The submissions which the Society propose to make to the Committee were approved. The submissions are a coalition of the items submitted to the Society by the various Bar Associations. IRISH FORMATIONS LIMITED The issue of Business & Finance of 19th January last carried an article under the title 'Cut Price' Company, recording an interview given by Mr. John Nolan of Clondalkin to a representative of the Journal. In this article Mr. Nolan is reported as having stated that he intended to operate a company registration agency, notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the Solicitors Act, 1954. Mr. Nolan as reported did not advert to the provisions of section 397 of the Companies Act 1963. The Society has since received a copy of an advertisement or prospectus issued by Irish Formations Ltd. over the name of Mr. John E. Nolan, Director outlining the services proposed to be given by his company. These include supplying a standard set of documents amended in accord ance with the customer's instructions for signa ture, doing all work necessary to have the com pany registered and supplying 8 printed and bound copies of the memorandum and articles of association with two draft copies. Members who are in a position to supply to the Society information and evidence as to the work carried out by Irish Formations Ltd. in connection with company registration are asked to send full details to the Secretary. Friday, 29th February —at Kilkenny, Kilkenny and Carlow Bar Associations. Saturday, 30th February —at Limerick, Limerick and North Tipperary Bar Associations. Friday, 5th April —at Dublin, Dublin Bar Asso ciation. The foregoing represents the itinery of our President Mr. Patrick Noonan in recent months. The Secretary accompanied the President at the meetings held in Donegal, Arklow, Limerick and Dublin. Mr. Finnegan was with the President in Portlaoise. APPOINTMENT Mr. Joseph Finnegan, Solicitor has joined the Society's staff as Assistant to the Secretary. Mr. Finnegan was admitted in Michaelmas 1966 and was recently an assistant solicitor in the firm of McKeever & Sons, Dublin. Mr. Finnegan is a graduate of the National University of Ireland having graduated in Civil Law in 1964 and obtained his LL.B. degree with honours in 1965. The Society awarded a Special Certificate on the combined results of the Second and Third Law Examinations to the new Assistant in 1966. The Annual General Meeting took place on 7th March 1968. The following report was adopted : The Directors have pleasure in presenting their Report for the year ending 30th November 1967 together with Receipts and Expenditure Account as of that period.
