LAND ACT, 1965 — SECTION 45 As the home demand for Irish farm land far exceeds the supply, general policy requires that sucn land will not ordinarily pass into the control of non-citizens. The Land Act, 1965, has taken tfas factor into consideration and accordingly it maY be assumed generally that Land Commission (a) of the Act, to the sale of farm land to non-citizens is unlikely to in verY exceptional circum stances. Sales of land which would, in the opinion of the Land Commission, be useful for present or future land settlement schemes, and sales which would interfere with State afforestation schemes or ...... , , , , , „ ' 43 wltn existing land settlement schemes would fall within the same category. All decisions under Section 45 are ultimately in the hands of the Land Commissioners and are so specifically stated in the Section to be "an excepted matter".
