respect of contributions by self employed solicitors towards pensions to make provision for retirement or old age. It was pointed out that the position of self employed professional persons compares un favourably with that of employed persons in this respect as it is possible to obtain exemption from income tax for contributions towards approved schemes which make provision for pensions on retirement or old age in the case of employed per sons. The Committee recommended that proposals should be submitted to the Government for exemp tion from income tax of contributions towards such schemes in the case of solicitors and other professional men. Recommendations to this effect have been made by the Millard Tucker committee which was appointed to examine the position in England. The Council decided that the Bar Council and the representative bodies of the accountancy profession should be invited to examine the position with this Society and to draft proposals for sub mission to the Government.
