A special meeting of the Council was held to consider orders published by the Minister for Justice increasing the Court fees payable in respect of proceedings in the High Court and the Circuit and District Courts. It was resolved that a letter should be sent immediately to the daily newspapers drawing public attention to the amount of the increases and the manner in which they were imposed. The orders were referred to a Committee of the Council for further examination with a view to making re presentations to the Minister for Justice to have them amended or modified. IT was decided to send a letter to the Department of Local Government requesting that the vacant position of taxing officer should be filled without delay. Applications to take apprentices. THREE applications by solicitors under Section 36 to the Act for leave to have more than one apprentice at the same time were considered. One application was refused. Two applications, both in respect of children of the applicants were granted. University law lectures. THE Council decided that credit will be given under 39
