IT was decided that a request should be submitted to the Superior Courts Rules Committee that a new rule should be made to enable actions to be remitted to the High Court in Cork by consent of the parties by a direction in the Central office without any formal application in Court which adds to the expense of the trial. If this rule were made an application to the Court would be necessary only in the absence of consent of all parties. Solicitor's liability for witnesses' fees and expenses. THE Council considered a report from a Committee which had obtained senior counsel's opinion on the question of the liability if any of a solicitor on record in an action for payment of such items as hospital treatment, medical, fees for treatment of the client and expert witnesses fees and expenses for attending court to give evidence in the action. THE Secretary reported that an inquiry had been addressed to the Bar Council to ascertain whether that Council would join with the Society in a submission that Sittings of the High Court on Circuit should be at equal half yearly intervals, but that no definite reply had been received.
