MANNING, who was senior clerk in the Society's office, and was in the Society's employment for the past thirty-nine years. Mr. Manning was well known to members and was esteemed for his courtesy and devotion to duty. He was at one time well known as an amateur actor in the City and while with the Old Dublin Minerva Players received awards for his portrayal of Shakespearean characters. He was also for many years a member of St. Bartholomew's choir. MR. PETER L. -MACARDLE, Solicitor, died at his residence, Stapleton Place, Dundalk, on nth June, 1948. Mr. Macardle served his apprenticeship with the late John Louis Scallan of 17 Bachelor's Walk and 25 Suffolk Street, Dublin, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1894, and practised in Dundalk. The post at present carries a salary of £1,450 a year (Man). Candidates must be practising barristers or solicitors in the state of not less than six years' standing.
