The following was among the business transacted: Applications under Sections 16 and 18 THREE applications from law clerks for leave to be bound as apprentices for three years only, pursuant to Section 16 were considered on reports from the Court of Examiners and granted. Six applications under Section 18 for exemption from the Preliminary Examination were considered on reports from the Court of Examiners. In one case it was decided to oppose the application for exemption. In four cases it was decided to oppose

the application for total exemption but not to oppose an application for a modified examination, and in the remaining case it was decided not to oppose the application for total exemption. Apprentices' Applications THREE applications from apprentices for leave to present themselves for the Intermediate Examin– ation in October next were considered and granted. Application under Section 47 ONE application from a solicitor for liberty to take out a practising certificate under Section 47 was considered and granted. SPECIAL EXAMINER IN LAW MR. DANIEL J. O'CONNOR, LL.B., T.C.D., of 42/3 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, has been appointed Special Examiner in Law to the Society in place of Mr. Joseph F. Shields, who has resigned. Mr. O'Connor was admitted in Easter Sittings, 1930, and until recently was Professor of Common Law to the Society.
