MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. 24th March. Twenty-eight members present. Professorship. A letter was read from Mr. E. L. Boland tendering his resignation of the office of Professor of Common Law, owing to his having been appointed as Assistant Solicitor in the Solicitors' branch of the Irish Land Commission. The resignation was accepted, and an election of a successor was directed to take place at the meeting of the Council on 28th April. Carbon Typing Paper. A letter in reply was read from the Depart ment of Industry and Commerce stating that the matter of the quality and prices of Irish manufactured carbon papers and typewriter ribbons, in reference to which complaint had been made by the Council to the Ministry is receiving attention. The letter enquired further particulars in reference to the complaints, and it was ordered that a reply giving particulars be written.

LECTURES. Senior lecture class begins Tuesday, 26th April. Junior lecture class begins Wednesday, 27th April. INTERMEDIATE EXAMINATION. An Intermediate Examination will be held on Friday, 3rd June. Notice of intention to attend should be lodged before 13th May. OBITUARY. MR. SAMUEL TARRANT, Solicitor, died on the 8th March, 1938, at Dublin. Mr. Tarrant served his apprenticeship with Mr. John Tarrant, Sligo, and Mr. Michael J. Howley, Sligo ; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1912, and practised formerly at Sligo and latterly at Dublin. MR. JOHN A. McCoNNELL, Solicitor, died on the 8th March, 1938, at his residence, Ormeau Road, Belfast. Mr. McConnell served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Norman C. Caruth, Bally- mena; was admitted in Hilary Sittings,. 1901, and practised formerly at Down- patrick and latterly at Ballynahinch.

HIGH COURT SITTINGS. Easter Sittings begin Monday, 25th April.
