OBITUARY. MR. THOMAS W. DELANY, Solicitor, died on the 9th July, 1939, at his residence, Winston, Longford. Mr. Delany served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Jeremiah McCarthy, Sligo, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1891, and practised at Longford. He was a member of the Coxmcil of the Society since 1925 and was President of the Society for the year 1937-38. He was Crown Solicitor for Co. Longford from 1902 to 1921 and State Solicitor from 1924 to 1938. On the nomination of the Council Mr. Delany was elected on the Cultural panel a member of the Senate in 1938. MR. JOHN QUIN, Solicitor, died on the 14th July, 1939, at Ardee. Mr. Ouin served his appernticeship with the late Mr. Thomas Gerrard, Dublin, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1909, and practised at Ardee up to 1938, when he retired.

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. 20th July. Twenty-two members present. The late Mr. T. W. Delany.

The Council passed a resolution expressing its deep regret at the death of Mr. Thomas W. Delany, a member and a Past President of the Council, and its sympathy with Mrs. Delany in her bereavement. Vacancy on the Council. Mr. William S. Huggard, Ballina, becomes an Ordinary member of the Council, being first on the supplemental list. Statutory Committee. The Chief Justice has, at the request of the Committee, appointed Mr. D. J. Reilly, the President of the Society, a member of the Committee in room of Mr. Delany. Serivenery Office of Courts of Justice. Letters were read from members drawing the attention of the Council to the delays being experienced by members in obtaining copies of documents bespoken in the Seriven ery Office. It was resolved to communicate with the Minister for Justice on this matter. Adjournment. The Council adjourned until Thursday, 5th October.

MR. ALLEN H. MORGAN, Solicitor, died on the 15th July, 1939, at his residence,. Hopevale, Natal, South Africa.
