In answer to your enquiry, the British Medical Association lays down the following for the guidance of newly-qualified medical practitioners :— " The general principle which should guide a medical practitioner is that he should not, without his patient's consent, voluntarily disclose information which he has obtained from such patient in the exercise of his professional duties. It is essential that for the proper rendering of professional services there should be established a relationship of complete confidence between one who receives and one who renders the service." EASTER AND TRINITY SITTINGS' LECTURES. Senior class lectures begin on Tuesday, 21st April, at 2.15 p.m. Junior class lectures begin on Wednesday, 22nd April, at 2.15 p.m. CALENDAR. The Calendar of the Society for 1936 can be obtained in the Secretary's office. Price five shillings : by post, five shillings and sixpence. PAPERS. A booklet containing a reprint of the papers set at all of the Society's examinations during 1935, can be obtained in the Secretary's office; price one shilling; by post, one shilling and twopence. THE SOLICITORS' BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION. The Board of Directors has elected Mr. Patrick J. Brady to be Chairman, Mr. Richard A. J. O'Brien to be Deputy- Chairman, and Mr. Dinnen B. Gilmore to be Honorary Secretary for the year 1936. Mr. Patrick Glynn, Solicitor, 22 Nassau Street, Dublin, is Secretary to the Associa tion, to whom all applications in reference to the Association should be addressed. MR. THOMAS R. T. CALLAN, Solicitor, died on the 8th February, 1936, at Dublin. Mr. Callan served his apprenticeship with Mr. James H. Murphy, Dundalk; was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1926, and practised at 1 Suffolk Street, Dublin. MR. CHARLES G. MACMAHON, Solicitor, died on the 12th February, 1936, at his residence, Brookfield, Dundalk. Mr. MacMahon served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Charles MacMahon, Dundalk; was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1917, and practised at Dundalk up to 1931, when he retired. MR. HENRY F. LEACHMAN, Solicitor, died on the 16th February, 1936, at his residence, Rydalmount, Milltown, County Dublin. Mr. Leachman served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Keith Hallowes, Dublin ; was admitted in Trinity Term, 1859, and practised at 1 College Street, Dublin, up to 1927, when he retired. MR. JAMES LYNCH, Solicitor, died on the 19th February, 1936, at his residence, 9 Bindon Street, Ennis. Mr. Lynch was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1890, and practised at Ennis. MR. ALEXANDER STEWART, Solicitor, died on the 28th February, 1936, at his residence, Lynalta, Newtownards. Mr. Stewart served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Hugh Graham, Newtownards ; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1903, and practised at Newtownards. MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL ETIQUETTE. A member of the Society sends the following information for publication :— The member put the following query to the Registrar of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland :— Is a doctor attached to a public hospital entitled, without the consent of a patient, to furnish a report on the patient's condition to an insurance company, or the patient's employer ? The reply from the Registrar was as follows :—
