MR. FRANK FOTTRELL (Vice-President) seconded the resolution adopting the Report, and the President put the resolution, which was passed. The Chair having been taken by Mr. Frank Fottrell, on the motion of MR. T. G. QUIRKE, seconded by MR. C. ST. G. ORPEN, a cordial vote of thanks was passed to the President, and the President having :replied, the proceedings terminated. November 17th. Twenty-one Members present. Circuit Court Rules. A letter was read from the Limerick Bar Association enclosing resolution drawing attention to the inconvenience being caused by the delay in the completion of the Circuit Court Rules. It was resolved that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Minister for Justice, with a letter expressing the con currence of the Council with the resolution. Registration of Title. In reply to a query from a member, the "Council expressed the opinion that as between the Solicitor for the executor and the Solicitor for the devisee, the Solicitor for the executor has the right to draw the assent of the executor to have the devisee registered as owner of registered land. OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM T. CLARE, Solicitor, died upon the 17th November, 1927, at his residence, " Ardmeen," lona Rd., Glasnevin. Mr. Clare served his apprenticeship with Mr. Harry R. Maunsell, Dublin ; was .admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1919, and practised at 11 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, in partnership with Mr. Arthur H. S. Orpen, under the style of Orpen & Sweeney. NEW MEMBERS. The following have joined the Society :— James J. Mickey, 39 Dawson Street, Dublin. Vincent D. Keirans, Monaghan. Henry Sheil, 46 Fleet Street, Dublin. MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

THE PRESIDENT.

The Council have elected Mr. Basil Thompson, of 12 Molesworth Street, Dublin, to be the President of the Society for the ensuing twelve months. The newly-elected President is the son of the late Mr. Bennett Thompson, Solicitor, a former member of the Council; he was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1900, and was elected a member of the Council in 1915, and was a Vice-President of the Society in 1917-18. THE VICE-PRESIDENTS. The Council have elected Mr. John G. Reid, of Castleblayney, and Mr. Michael E. Knight, of Clones, to be the Vice-Presidents of the Society for the ensuing twelve months. LECTURES, HILARY SITTINGS, 1928. The attention of apprentices who are attending the 1927-28 lectures, either Junior or Senior Class, is drawn to the new Regula tion which provides that in Hilary Sittings eighteen lectures will be delivered to each of the two classes, and in Easter and Trinity Sittings twelve lectures to each of the two classes. The following are the dates of the Hilary Sittings Lectures :— JUNIOR CLASS. Mondays and Thursdays, at the Royal College of Surgeons, two o'clock, p.m. January 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 30. February 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27. March 1, 5, 8, 12. SENIOR CLASS. Tuesdays and Fridays, at the Royal College of Surgeons, two o'clock, p.m. January 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31. February 3, 7, 10;'l4, 17, 21, 24, 28. March 2, 6, 9, 13.
