The Gazette of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.

The appointment .will be made for one year, and the person appointed will be eligible for re-appointment for each of the four succeeding years. A candidate for the Professorship must be either a Barrister or a Solicitor, and he should send his application before 1st July to the Secretary of the Society, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin. The Professor will be required to deliver forty-two lectures between the months of September and July, and to conduct viva voce examinations in the subjects of his lectures. Enquiry for further particulars should be addressed to the Secreatary. LIBRARY. The Council acknowledge with thanks the following gifts for the Library :— Twenty-eight volumes of the Irish Law Times, from Mr. H. F. Leachman, Solicitor. Two volumes Jacob's Law Dictionary, from Mr. L. S. Meldon, Solicitor. Six volumes of the Times Law Reports and several single numbers of the Times Law Reports, from The Times Publish ing Company, Ltd. Thirteen Incorporated Law Society's Calendars and thirty-one volumes of Reports, three volumes State Trials, and five volumes Irish Statutes, from Messrs. O'Hagan and Son. The Council have purchased for the Library ninety-eight volumes of Reports and six text books, from the owner of a law library, the contents of which are at present being disposed of.

SOLICITORS' GOLFING SOCIETY. The annual competition was held at Dollymount on the 23rd May, in which fifty- two members took part. Messrs. J. D. Hollinger and James O'Connor tied for the Cup with a net score of 73. Mr. T. F. McKeever, of Drogheda, won both the novice prize and the prize confined to country members, while Mr. S. A. Roche, of Tullow, was second in the latter. The other best scores returned were :— Desmond Collins, 77, 3, 74. In the four-ball sweepstakes Messrs. Maxwell and Pigot tied with Messrs. Gaynor and McKeever with 3 up on bogey. The Annual General Meeting was held in the Clubhouse, and the following were elected officers for the coming year :— President —Mr. E. H. Burne (President of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland). Captain —Mr. W. T. Sheridan. Committee— Messrs. R. G. Warren, P. M. Seales, B. Thompson, C. O'Brien, J. T. Hamerton, and J. J. Sheil.
