Obituary. MR. JAMES MURRAY, Solicitor, died in the month of December, 1924. Mr. Murray served his apprenticeship with Mr. Jasper T. Wolfe, Skibbereen; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1914, and practised at Lismore. MR. ALFRED NORMAN, Solicitor, died upon the 31st December, 1924, at his residence, 16 Ely Place, Dublin. Mr. Norman was admitted in Hilary "Sittings, 1891, and practised at 17 Ely Place, Dublin. New Members. The following joined the Society during December, 1924:— Boyle, James, Stranorlar. Kennedy, Kenneth A., Tullamore. MacNeice, Herbert, 6 Dawson Street, Dublin. Solicitors' Annual Certificates. Members are reminded that their Annual Certificates for the year ending 5th January, 1926, should be taken out, and the duties paid thereon, before the 6th February, 1925. The Certificates of Solicitors whose offices are situate in the Irish Free State are issued in the office of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, 33 Molesworth Street, Dublin, and the duty is payable at the Inland Revenue Offices, Dublin Castle. The Certificates of Solicitors whose offices are situate in Northern Ireland are issued in the office of the Incorporated Law Society of Northern Ireland, 2 Rosemary Street, Belfast, and the duty is payable at the Inland Revenue Offices, Belfast. The Society's Calendars and Annual Reports. The Secretary would be grateful to members who might have copies of any of the following if they would present them to the Society :— Calendars of the Society for the following years :—1887-1896 (inclusive), 1898- 1901 (inclusive), and 1921. Annual Reports of the Council of the Society for any years prior to 1877.

Law Association : Mr. W. Murphy, Mr. A. Julian, Mr. C. J. Lane, Mr. P. J. Kavanagh and Mr. J. J. Morgan ; the ten whose names were submitted as above were elected Extra- Ordinary Members of Council for year ending 26th November, 1925. Sheriffs' Fees. A report was submitted as a result of the conference on the matter of a schedule of fees to be paid to Sheriffs on lodgment of decrees of District Courts, at which a schedule had been agreed upon and had been forwarded to the Minister of Justice llth December. Twenty-five Members present. Local Government Bill. A the Secretary of the Minister for Local Govern ment, stating that the Minister desired to state that on report stage in the Dail an amendment had been inserted in the Local Government Bill providing that the expres sion " pensionable officer" shall include " any person duly appointed standing Solicitor of a local body before the passing of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1919," and that a further amendment would be introduced in the Senate making it clear that the word " officer " in Section 36 includes a person duly appointed standing Solicitor to a local body. Statutory Committee. A letter was read from the Chief Justice appointing the following members of the Council to be the Statutory Conmittee for the year ending 26th November, 1925 :— Mr. MacDermott, Mr. Moore, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Orpen, Mr. Quirke, Mr. Seddall and Mr. Warren.
