Meetings of the Council.

VLth December Twenty-five Members present. Extra-Ordinary Members. The names of the following were sub mitted by the Southern Law Association for election as extra-ordinary members of the Council for the year ending 26th November, 1924 :—Mr. A. H. Exham (President), Mr. A. H. Julian, Mr. J. J. Horgan, Mr. P. J. Kavanagh and Mr. C. J. Lane. Statutory Committee. The Secretary reported that the Lord Chief Justice of Ireland had appointed the following members of the Council to be the Statutory Committee for the year ending 26th November, 1924 :—Mr. Moore, Mr. Brady, Mr. MacDermott, Mr. Quirke, Mr. Seddall, Mr. Warren and Mr. White. Recorder's Court. A letter in reply was read from Mr. Hugh Horan, Solicitor, stating that he hoped to be able to make arrangements so that solicitors for Claimants under the Damages to Property (Compensation) Act will have longer notice of the day upon which their cases will be heard ; and that as regards claims for larger amounts, the Solicitors will get ample notice of the time when the cases will be heard. ' • •

Election of President and Viee-Presidents. The Council elected Mr. James Moore to be President of the Society, and Mr. R. Nesbitt Keller and Sir John R. O'Connell to be Vice-Presidents for the ensuing twelve months. Recorder's Court. It was decided that a letter be written to Mr. Hugh Horan, Solicitor, who is in charge of the Damages to property (Com pensation) Act cases in the Chief State Solicitor's Office, urging that reasonable and sufficient length of notice should be given in advance of the date upon which each case would appear in the list for hearing. Land Act, 1923. The further consideration of the prepara tion by the Council of a Memorandum on the subject of Vendors' Solicitors' Costs of Sale, was postponed pending the issue of the rules relating to the work to be done under the Act up to allocation.
